Nirmala Training Centre for Exceptional Children at Kusumagiri, Kakkanad, is a torch bearer in providing training to children with Autism and Down Syndrome.
The Centre managed by the Medical Sisters of St. Joseph (MSJ) and Sr Zarina as the in charge, has nearly 70 children undergoing training. They aim at identifying the potential of the children with disability, counseling families of children with Autism and other disorders, enabling parents, siblings, teachers and special educators through training programmes and promoting developmental disability awareness in the society.
Simelabs in association with SYF on March 7th, 2023, as a humble gesture, gifted 4 laptops to the Centre taking into consideration their IT infrastructure needs. The laptops were presented by Ms. Raji Nair, the Chief Happiness Officer of Simelabs to Sr Zarina.
We plan to aid them in future with more assistance in this field. The Centre also requires modifications of the building which at present has both the School as well as the Mental Rehabilitation Centre under the same roof. We look forth to address this need, in the best interest of the Training Centre in future.
